Challenging the world by thin, light, and highly heat-resistant manifolds and bearing housings required by the current age

The exhaust manifold is the first component of the exhaust system, which collects hot engine exhaust from the cylinders of internal-combustion engines, usually in vehicles. Yamato has been manufacturing exhaust manifolds from the early stages of motorization, making the best use of the iron casting technology the company has cultivated over the years. Especially today, the company has gained a good reputation after its realization of special material, which is thin, light, and highly heat-resistant -- the qualities the present age requires.

As a manufacturer of bearing housings, Yamato is an important partner as a supporting company of a Japanese manufacturer that occupies 20% of the world market share in turbochargers. That means at least 10% of turbochargers in the world use Yamato's bearing housings. Our bearing housings are also used for he turbochargers of one of the largest European automakers. The excellence of Yamato's technology was evaluated highly by an inspector from the automaker who visited our plant. Turbine housings, that are also used for turbochargers, are another of our major products.

Fusion of IT and the casting technology cultivated through many years has materialized Yamato's diverse capability that is strong in whatever time and age

Yamato's Reliable and Innovative Technology
Yamato is an innovator. By developing new additives, we have created a higher quality vermicular cast iron. This new product, combined with our innovations in production technology for thinning, position us as a leader in both product weight reduction and cutting performance in the machining process. Weight reduction and cutting performance are two important factors that are sure to see higher demand in the future.
Yamato's Customer Service
We constantly strive to enhance customer service and customer satisfaction by promoting product development value engineering, shortening our prototype development cycle, and improving information technology for casting production.
Yamato's high-mix low-volume production
Yamato has the capacity to satisfy the needs for a wide variety of products in small quantities. We have unique manufacturing technologies especially for high-grade parts, including heat-resistant security parts such as exhaust manifolds, hydraulic components, and turbocharger parts. By supplying these products, we support industry and contribute to the market.
Yamato's Integrated Production
We meet our customers' needs through the efficiency of full integration, from the production of casting materials to the machining process.

As well as having cultivated excellent casting technology for years, Yamato is also developing its own facilities and inspection tools. We have promoted computerization from early on, and we now possess prominent analog and digital technologies as well as excellent hardware and software technologies.

Due to the increasing demand in the world for diesel engine turbochargers that reduce impact on the global environment, bearing housings for these engines have become the major product of Yamato. However, the technology in this area is not the only specialty Yamato has. We always try to cater for high-mix low-volume production with diversified materials, which can satisfy any kinds of requests at any time in the future. Meanwhile we continue with our research and development. Currently, a trial is underway to implement the world's first power supply system to enhance the performance of our high-frequency induction furnace. Thus, Yamato is discovering new means of advancement in the future.

The casting industry must take the workplace environment and the global environment seriously

Yamato was among the first in the Japanese casting industry to introduce dust hoods for VIP® melting furnace, which were used in Europe as a matter of course at the time. Many of the visitors to our plant comment that the volume of the dust is less than in other casting plants and the foundry aroma is not as strong.

A new dust collection system to replace the dust hoods is on track. As well as a clean environment within the foundry, we are giving due consideration to the global environment by reducing power consumption to the minimum necessary.

Excellent processing technology to add further value to casting products in this age when a foundry must be more than just a foundry

Cast iron products from the Sokeizai Operation Department cannot be used on their own. Parts are only completed when they have been drilled and machined and assembled with other parts. However good the quality of casting is, its evaluation as a part goes down if the processing is low quality. If the quality of the processing is high, value is added to the product.

Although we use equipment with advanced inspection technology, there are still many points that are only discovered when a casting is machined. Therefore, if we process the castings we produce into complete products before sending them out, our customers will have fewer defective products. The demand for our Machining Department is increasing rapidly and the level of our customers' requirements are getting tougher and tougher, as the technology of our Sokeizai Operation Department gets higher and higher. Under these circumstances, we are promoting rapid renovation, including the introduction of state-of-the-art machines, both for specialist jobs and general purpose. We are also systemizing work flows so that we do not depend only on the skills of experienced technicians. At the same time, we are enhancing and broadening the capabilities of our individual employees.

Integrated processing to meet customers' needs
Many of our casting products are machine-processed so that they can be used as they are and delivered to our customers ready for assembly.
Extensive machining plant
We have two buildings of machining plant with a total floor space of about 1,800 ㎡. Various castings including manifolds, turbine housings, and bearing caps are processed here.
Replacement with modern machinery
To satisfy customers' needs and enhance our processing capability, we have introduced up-to-date processing machines, including vertical and horizontal NC lathes.

Yamato has been creating towns and cities for over 400 years, beginning with temple bells in the Edo Era

Yamato Intec traces its historical roots back to 1584, when its founder Hama Iemon Kiyomasa was invited by the local lord of Matsumoto and moved to the area from Yui in Kamakura County, Sagami Province (now in Kanagawa Prefecture). For over 400 years since then, the company has been manufacturing public works products that many people see and use every day, from temple bells in the Edo Era to modern bridge railings and street lamps.

Focusing on the planning, design, and manufacture of aluminum-based exterior products and construction materials, the Exterior Products Department has introduced the latest automatic casting system in its resource-conserving and pollution-free manufacturing line known as V Process. This ensures that the items produced from specifications are true to the extravagant images in the original designs. Our products are used widely inside and outside Nagano Prefecture, for well-known places and famous buildings in the Tokyo metropolitan area as well as in rural areas surrounding Shiojiri and Matsumoto.

We always try to manufacture products from the customers' viewpoint, to provide the best and the most appropriate products for our customers through our system that integrates the processes from marketing to planning, manufacturing, and sales. Yamato's strength is the accumulation of precious know-how that can only be obtained by this kind of integrated production.

We manufacture bridge railings, casting panels, decorative street lamps, and various monuments that help create a comfortable social environment. Our gates, fences, mailboxes, and lights make the living environment rich and luxurious. We are proud that, through manufacturing the products that many people see every day, we continue to contribute to creating cities and towns that beautifully harmonize with nature.
