Three Turning Points
Exterior business began by V Process
1971: Nagano Prefectural Industrial Research Institute (current Nagano Prefecture General Industrial Technology Center) successfully developed "V Process Molding Method" (Vacuum Seal Mold Process), which later was patented worldwide. As a joint developer, Yamato introduced the process in the plant, which enabled Yamato to cast large-size aluminum products. However, the company had difficulties due to the underdeveloped market and many defect products produced by the prototype machinery.
- 1977: Succeeded in the development of Heat Vacuum Process, and the practical use of Yamato's unique molding process (Y Process) started.
- In the same year, for the development of V Process, Yamato was awarded the Okochi Memorial Prize, which at the time was a prestigious domestic prize awarded for excellent technologies. Then, the company started to greatly improve its performance in exterior products due to the expansion of the exterior market, especially at the high-end during the economic bubble. These products became one of the company's major business lines.
- 1981: Invested in the installation of the high-speed molding line for V Process.
This was forced through as a tactical installment, predicting the future popularity of exterior products manufactured by V Process. It proved to be a powerful facility that looked ahead into the future.
